St. John of God Kerry Services
2011
'In Spring 2011, we had the pleasure here in St. John of God Kerry Services to avail of the input from Music therapy Ireland. The programme was tailored to support individuals in the severe/profound category of intellectual disability. It far exceeded our expectations with individuals receiving tremendous enjoyment and value from their weekly session with therapists Eli & Jess.
It was wonderful to see their joy and reaction to sampling all the different musical instruments. The ocean drum and keyboard were a big hit! Our residents participated both in group and one to one sessions. We found the therapy of particular benefit to some of our people who present with behaviour that challenges and others who have a visual impairment.
Overall the music therapy was a great success'.

'Music Therapy Ireland are a large part of our activity program at Lakes. These unique music sessions are quite effective in reducing the effects of stress. Music Therapy has many positive attributes such as relieving pain, insomnia, lower elevated blood pressure, promotes natural healing, concentration, memory, vital energy and many more.
Our weekly Music Therapy sessions enable Residents to simply chill out and close their eyes and just allow the harmonic information to work while others prefer to sing and dance.
Individual Music Therapy sessions are excellent for Residents with Alzheimer's thus promoting concentration and memory. We are fortunate enough to be able to provide such an effective programme that has many powerful and proven effects on the mind and body'.

'I have had the privilege of using the services of MTI within the care home setting. The team has a very professional approach and is always reliable. They show nothing but warmth and kindness to their clients and also to the staff, quickly and easily building a rapport. I have seen the benefits that music therapy can bring to individuals and groups; helping to connect with those who may have difficulties in communicating and/or expressing themselves. MTI bring a great deal of joy and happiness to the day – we all would look forward to the sessions.
I would not hesitate to recommend their service, skills and expertise and would welcome the opportunity to work with them again in the future'.
