Supporting HIQA Standards
HIQA inspections have acknowledged Music Therapy intervention and treatment planning as a means to provide effective care and support for health care service users.
Upon consultation with the team, our therapists design individualised care plans to support residents, of every level of ability, engage in meaningful and purposeful interactions. Treatment plans are evaluated on an ongoing basis, with the therapist reporting to senior staff and providing adequate documentation held at the service.
This ensures that comprehensive, evidence-based treatment planning, meets and complies with HIQA standards, code of ethics, child protection and vulnerable adults policies.
The intervention results in positive outcomes in the areas of emotional expression, interaction, communication, sensory and memory stimulation, mood, stress management, sleep patterns and motivation.
Special consideration is given to residents with behaviour that challenges, depressive symptoms, communication difficulties, cognitive or physical impairments, and those in end-of-life and Dementia care.
