Broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in October 2013.

Researchers believe lullabies may help sick children by reducing pain and improving their well-bling.

In an experiment at Great Ormond Street Hospital, 37 children were played songs including Hush-A-Bye-Baby and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

The impact on their heart rate and pain response levels was compared with being left alone, and with being read a book.

The BBC's health and science reporter James Gallagher reports.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's 'Today programme' on Tuesday 29 October 2013.
